This place is phenomenal! Whenever I want some dry, flavorful noodles I come here :) We came on a Sunday during lunch and the wait was 10-15 minutes which wasn't bad at all. The place is a bit small and the tables are close together, I wish it was more spread apart. When you sit down, you order via QR code. One downfall of this place is the food takes forever...expect to wait around 30-35 min for your food to come out. There are not a lot of workers and people making the food, so definitely be patient. For the food, it's amazing! I got the deluxe with the soft boil egg, poached egg, minced meat, chashu pork, fresh garlic, and nori. The combination of the umami flavors and richness is addicting. I added the vinegar that is on each table to cut the fattiness of the dish. The acidity was the perfect touch. At the end, you can ask for a free bowl of rice to mix it with the extra sauce from the noodles. I prefer to eat it separately, rather than mixing it in with the bowl. Overall, a very unique, and satisfying meal, it will not disappoint!
Tried this a few years ago when it just opened and thought it was very good but haven't had a chance to come back until now. We came at a good time, there just one table of two open and after we sat down the line was crazy outside. Wait for food was a little long but it was worth it. Got the deluxe and you just can't go wrong with the extra boiled egg. Food was bomb but salty, perfect for adding the rice at the end. It was a bit oily and I felt horrendous after but I would definitely come back.
Got there shortly after they opened on a Saturday. We were able to nab the last 2 open bar seats. You order on your phone, which is convenient. Food took about a half hour to come out, which seemed like a long time. Everything tasted good. The fries in the monster fries are not great, but you get to try ground pork, pork belly and karage all together. The tarter sauce on the tofu nanban is certainly interesting - a must try if you like fried tofu food and tarter sauce. The mazesoba was really good. Amazing how a no sauce noodle dish can be so saucy.
Where do I even begin. Menya Hanabi is arguably one of the best Japanese restaurants in Southern California. Their original mazesoba is to die for, and their iced matcha and takoyaki is undefeated. The interior is super comfortable and inviting and just radiates positive vibes. The servers are always so thoughtful and attentive and they will ensure that you have an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend Menya Hanabi to everyone who lives in SoCal.
I was able to order to go and got their deluxe mazesoba. My mom got their chashu rice bowl and my dad also got the deluxe mazesoba and we also got the squid legs appetizer. We ordered to go and noticed that they were a bit slow with getting the orders out. The mazesoba was very good. You have to mix it well and you can add some vinegar for more flavor. The deluxe mazesoba comes with chashu, soft-boiled egg, and ground pork, so plenty of protein. The chashu rice bowl was also very good. The chashu bowl also has a lot elements to it. The chashu is very tender. It was good and eventually I'll try it in the restaurant.
Excellent service, delicious taste, and so busy for a Sunday night! My husband and I came here for an early dinner date after he had tried it out and had raved about the flavor. I was excited to see what the hype was about. The restaurant was pretty full, but luckily, there were a couple of spots open for just us two, and we were seated immediately by the very kind hostess who ended up helping us out with our order. Everyone gets to self order through the QR attached to the table, but we weren't finding exactly how to order a non-spicy curry rice dish, and so the hostess became our waitress and helped take our order and even added our Yelp check in free toppings. My husband got the most popular noodle dish with slices of pork and poached egg, and even though we ordered the curry rice I was served a curry noodle but I ate it anyway and it was still delicious. The wait outside kept getting longer as we ate, so it's best to get here before 5PM if you want a table for dinner. Overall, the flavor was amazing, and we would love to come back and try out any of their other dishes! Shout out to the hostess for being so sweet!
Came back as we were craving Mazesoba. Got the deluxe and curry Mazesoba. We made sure to follow the suggestions to add vinegar as appropriate. We did not take them up on the free rice it was already too much food! Meal was delicious. It was still busy at 8p just 30 minutes to closing with a few people still waiting outside. Don't forget the Yelp check in offer!
As a fan of tan tan noodles and Japanese cuisine, I was excited to try this place after seeing it featured on Rockstar Eater's YouTube channel. Anticipating a crowd, I arrived 10 minutes before opening and was surprised to find others already waiting. Luckily, I was able to add my name to the list and was the second person allowed in when the doors opened. The restaurant has a small to medium-sized dining area that quickly filled up within about 20 minutes, reflecting its popularity. Since I was dining solo, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the Tan Tan Mazesoba with tofu and Hanabi Karaage. Sitting at the counter, I enjoyed watching the cooks prepare my meal--everything was executed efficiently and the food arrived quickly, which was a fun experience. The noodles were good overall, with a robust pork flavor that might be a bit strong for those not fond of pork. The chicken karaage, topped with ground pork, was also tasty. The chicken itself was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, while the ground pork added an extra layer of flavor. However, the added pork flavor was a bit overwhelming for my taste. Despite this, I still really enjoyed the restaurant. Its unique take on Japanese cuisine and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere set it apart from typical ramen shops. I look forward to returning and trying other dishes.
So it has been a while since I have been back to this place, and I can say the food is still really good. The only thing that is a bit frustrating is the waiting system. Me and my family (with kids) had to wait over an hour in order for us to get a seat. To be exact, hour and 15 min. I thought by this point they would have at least looked into some other ways to make it easier for customers to get in. I like that they have the whole party here to be seated, but if there is a yelp waitlist, or something that can even send a text message, this would be amazing. I saw so many people end up leaving, or not being able to get seated because they were missing a person or 2. With the system now you HAVE to wait outside, and listen for them to call your name. Maybe it is a marketing strategy, or perhaps it is just the system that they have set up. Regardless this review is no way to say this restaurant is not good or anything. The food is still really good, including the Chicken Appetizer we ordered. Since I don't live around here, I would have to try to strategize when to come here to eat. I hope the new location they are planning to open in Irvine will have this in consideration.
Casual and clean restaurant with plenty of strip mall parking. The dry, saucy udon is filling - to the point it sits there in your gut. The bowls that we had were tasty with many options thru their QR code menu. You can add or subtract eggs, add more meat, side soup for more moisture, onions, rice, udon, etc One word - Filling!
